Vertiv has launched a pre-assembled micro data center system in EMEA region. The system is intended for use at the edge or on small IT sites.
The VRC-S is a rack power distribution system that includes a backup power supply, monitoring sensors, and software for its data center. There is up to 3.5kW of cooling capacity, which can be fully integrated or linked to existing building air conditioners. The factory-built single-rack system is now available in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Pre-built Edge system
Vertiv is pitching this to the typical Edge locations, such as retail stores, healthcare facilities, and light industrial facilities, where rapid IT response is required. Vertiv says the system is available in a variety of pre-built configurations that can be delivered in days and installed in a matter of hours.
Closed single racks are available in 42 or 48U configurations and feature their own small pseudo hot/cold aisle with air circulating to avoid hotspots and fan speeds adjusted to the actual load. It has a cooling capacity of 3.5kW and can be used as a split system (connected to an external air conditioning system) or as a self-contained unit, with hot air being exhausted through a top vent equipped with an emergency fan. Waste heat can be vented into a suspended ceiling, for example.

“This new offering is a strategic outcome of Vertiv’s product innovation roadmap and recent R&D investments, which will gradually expand the market for edge-ready, micro data center solutions.”
The Vertiv VRC-S is backed by a three-year warranty and can be installed by Vertiv or channel partners in your area. Additionally, Vertiv offers Vertiv XR, an augmented reality app that allows you to view it virtually.
