Rambus is acquiring AnalogX, a provider of data centre interconnect IP.

Rambus has agreed to acquire data center company AnalogX, a provider of SerDes IP solutions for low-power multi-standard connectivity. SerDes IP is a functional block used to serialize and deserialize digital data for high-speed chip-to-chip communication.

The transaction is anticipated to close in the third quarter of calendar year 2021.

“As data centers transition to a disaggregated model, high-speed connectivity will be critical for unleashing the performance of data-intensive computing platforms,” said Luc Seraphin, Rambus president and CEO.

“AnalogX’s industry-leading PHYs and DSP design expertise will help us accelerate our roadmap for data center interconnect chips and expand our reach into new markets such as data center, AI/ML, and 5G.”

Rambus said the acquisition will accelerate its roadmap for PCIe 6.0 and CXL 3.0 solutions.

This month, AnalogX announced a collaboration with PLDA, a provider of high-speed interconnect silicon intellectual property, to integrate the AnalogX 32G-MR PHY with the PLDA CXL 2.0 controller.
