The Indian Air Force has aircraft and equipment of Russian (erstwhile Soviet Union), British, French, Israeli, US and Indian origins with Russian aircraft dominating its inventory. Following are the Fighter Jets of the mighty Indian Air Force.
1. SU-30 MKI
A twin-seater, twin-engine multirole fighter of Russian origin that has one 30mm GSH cannon as well as external weaponry weighing 8000 kg is on the way. A variety of medium-range guided air to air missiles equipped with active or semiactive radar, as well as Infra red homing close-range missiles, can be carried on board the aircraft. It has a top speed of 2500 kilometres per hour (Mach 2.35).
2. Mirage-2000

It has a combat ceiling of 17 kilometres above sea level. It is armed with a 30 mm gun, four R-60 close combat missiles, and two R-27 R medium range radar guided missiles, among other weapons.
4. MiG-21 BISON
Multirole fighter/ground attack aircraft of Russian origin, powered by a single engine and carrying a single crew member, that serves as the backbone of the Indian Air Force. It can reach a top speed of 2230 km/h (Mach 2.1) and is armed with a 23mm dual barrel gun and four R-60 close combat missiles, according to the manufacturer.
5. Jaguar
A twin-engined, single-seater deep penetration strike aircraft of Anglo-French manufacture with a maximum speed of 1350 km/hr and a range of 1,500 km (Mach 1.3). It is armed with two 30mm cannons and has the capability of transporting two R-350 Magic CCMs (overwing) as well as 4750 kg of external supplies (bombs and gasoline).
