BMW Group India Commits INR 8 Crore to Strengthen Anti-COVID-19 Pandemic Efforts

BMW Group India has committed INR 8 crore to the COVID-19 pandemic response. The company has made an additional contribution of INR 5 crore on top of its previous commitment of INR 3 crore.

BMW Group India is working to improve healthcare infrastructure and services in Gurugram (Delhi NCR) and Chengalpattu (Tamil Nadu). For on-the-ground implementation, associations with government and non-government organizations have been established. The Company  has imported 150 oxygen concentrators for use in the critical care of COVID-19 patients. The concentrators will be used by GiveIndia, a non-governmental organization, to operate an oxygen bank in Gurugram (Delhi NCR).

We have been fully committed to combating the COVID-19 pandemic and flattening the curve since the outbreak began. The company is also actively involved in critical and immediate relief efforts, such as the import of oxygen concentrators that will help save lives.”

The company  has made significant contributions to the strengthening of India’s healthcare infrastructure. At Chengalpattu Government Hospital, an isolation ward and PCR lab have been established, along with a commitment to provide RT-PCR lab equipment and microbial detection systems to expand COVID-19 testing. By providing Mobile Vans and Rapid Antigen Kits, the Foundation has collaborated closely with Gurugram District Health Administration on sample collection and vaccination programmes. Gurugram Civil Hospital has been equipped with critical care equipment, and an isolation ward has been established for the Manesar police department. PPE kits, face shields, and masks have been distributed to frontline health workers and patients in Gurugram (Delhi NCR) and Chennai (Tamil Nadu). Additionally, the Foundation has distributed meals and ration kits to the less fortunate.

In addition to its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, the company is committed to the safety and welfare of its employees and their families.

BMW Group India has partnered with leading hospitals to provide vaccinations to associates and their families at the BMW Group Training Centre in Gurugram (Delhi NCR) and the BMW Group Plant in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu (Tamil Nadu).

A ‘Doctor-On-Call’ service covers COVID-19 prevention, home testing, consultation, treatment, and liaison with ambulance services. Additionally, this includes professional assistance for overall well-being and stress-related issues resulting from the current situation.

Additionally, BMW Group India imported oxygen concentrators from BMW Group AG in Germany for employees and their families receiving COVID-19 treatment in critical care.

Employees’ health insurance covers mediclaim for COVID-19 treatment for themselves and dependents. Term Life Insurance provides financial security for an employee’s dependents by continuing to pay them the employee’s last drawn monthly gross salary for the next three years. (*Monthly gross salary includes the following: Basic + Housing Allowance + Child Education Allowance)

The BMW India Foundation was established with the mission of implementing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes on behalf of the company, BMW India Financial Services, and BMW India Leasing in India. The  Foundation will continue to support the BMW Group India entities’ existing engagements and will work to significantly scale them up to achieve the intended benefits. It aims to advance the corporate citizenship agenda by committing to long-term projects and developing a stronger relationship with implementation partners in order to achieve a greater positive impact.
